How to Train Power in Dig Into Secrets
Training is the pickaxe. Mining is just where you spend the Power you already earned.
Every incremental miner hides the same trap: the hole looks like the game, so you jump in, and then the blocks do not break. In Dig Into Secrets, Power is the stat that decides whether a swing is mining or animation. This guide is how to train, when to stop training, and how codes, pets, and rebirths feed the same number. Pair it with the training rankings and the beginner guide.
The official description puts Train to get stronger first, before loot, Cash, pets, or rebirth. That order is not flavor text. +1 Lucky Mine wants you on the training pad before you roleplay as a miner.
What Power actually does
Power is the threshold and the speed. Low Power means shallow dirt. Higher Power means colored ore bands, then whatever sits under the 1000 m fantasy in the thumbnail, then maybe the Alien Area. Pets multiply Power or mining output. Rebirths multiply the whole account. Training is the base number those multipliers eat.
If you only hatch and never train, you own a zoo that still taps like a starter. If you only train and never hatch, you hit a wall where each point of Power costs more time than a pet would have saved. Alternate: train a block, mine a block, hatch when Cash allows, as in how to mine and how to hatch.
Where to train
The tutorial points at a dedicated training area — a pad, dummy, gym, or click target near spawn. Stay there. Do not train by swinging at unbreakable bedrock “for practice”. Unbreakable blocks are a depth gate, not a gym.
On a full public server, the pad is a mosh pit. Move to a private mining server so your clicks register. Twenty players is the cap; you do not need seventeen of them on the same button.
How to run a training block
- Redeem POWERBUFF first if you have not. See how to redeem. A buff that does not cover training is a wasted buff.
- Equip your best pet from the pets tier list. Training pets beat cosmetic pets.
- Stand on the pad and repeat the train action until Power jumps a noticeable chunk.
- Walk to a shaft and test a layer. If blocks die instantly, you can mine. If they chip, train more.
- Sell any test loot so the backpack is empty. Then either mine properly or rebirth if the next train cost is silly — rebirth guide.
A training block should have a stop condition. “I will train until the first ore color breaks in one or two hits” is a stop condition. “I will train until I am bored” is how you skip the actual game.
Pets, rebirths, and Power
Pets are the lazy Power. A strong hatch can outpace ten minutes of pad time. That is why this wiki ranks pets for progression, not for looks. After a rebirth, your base Power drops and the multiplier stays — typical incremental behavior. Confirm in-game what resets; then rebuild Power faster than the first life. The rebirth planner is the checklist so you do not reset mid-buff.
POWERBUFF and other timed boosts
POWERBUFF is named like a training tool. Use it on the pad, not while you AFK in the plaza. If a later update adds potions or gamepass multipliers, stack them with training the same way: start the timer, then click, then mine while leftover seconds remain.
Do not buy Robux training passes until you have finished the free loop once. You cannot tell whether a pass is worth it until you know how long a legal Power climb takes.
Signs you are under-trained
- Other players delete a layer you cannot scratch.
- You stand in a hole waiting for a block to notice you.
- You opened a script because mining felt broken. Mining was fine. Power was low.
- You have not sold loot in twenty minutes because you never broke anything worth selling.
The fix is always the same: leave the hole, train, come back. Depth is not courage.
After training, go mine
This page is not a lifestyle. When the test swing works, open how to mine and make Cash. Cash buys eggs. Eggs buy more Power per second. That triangle is the game. The progression tier list ranks which corner to push when you are stuck.
If you came here from the guides hub, the next click is mining unless your rebirth button is already flashing and your backpack is sold.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Dig Into Secrets miners.
Should I train or mine first in Dig Into Secrets?
Train until your pickaxe actually breaks the layer you want, then mine. See how to mine.
Does POWERBUFF help training?
The name says yes. Redeem it from the codes hub and use the timer on the pad.
Do pets replace training?
They multiply it. Hatch using how to hatch pets, but still train the base.
Why is training slow on public servers?
Twenty players on one pad. Switch to a private mining server.
When do I stop training for a rebirth?
When the next Power upgrade costs more than a reset is worth. Use the rebirth planner.
