How to Mine in Dig Into Secrets
Break layers you can actually one-shot, sell often, and leave crowded public craters behind.
Mining is the middle of the Dig Into Secrets loop. You already trained enough Power to break a layer. Now you convert that Power into loot, loot into Cash, and Cash into pets. This page is the practical shaft: where to stand, when to sell, how public servers ruin drops, and why digging forever is a stall disguised as progress.
The official thumbnail shows a 1000 m pit with ore bands and a mystery blob at the bottom. Treat that as marketing for depth, not a literal quest log. Your first job is a clean, repeatable pit you can finish before the backpack fills.
Setup before the first swing
- Power tested on the layer you want. If the block chips, go back to training.
- Best pet equipped from the pets tier list.
- Empty or near-empty inventory. Sell leftovers.
- Codes already in. WELCOME / POWERBUFF will not mine for you, but POWERBUFF may still be ticking.
- A private mining server if the public plot is a cheese grater of overlapping holes.
How a good shaft looks
Start at spawn grass, open a vertical or stepped hole, and follow ore color. Shallow browns and greys are cash for beginners. Bright bands are the reason you trained. If you drop into a color you cannot break, you over-dived. Climb, train, return.
Mine in a pattern you can reclear. Random spaghetti tunnels look busy and waste walk time. A 3×3 or staircase you can sweep is faster than a maze, especially after a rebirth when you must rebuild Cash quickly.
Pick up loot as it spawns. Leaving sparkles in a public shaft is donating. On private servers you can be sloppier; on 20-player publics you cannot.
Sell like it is a mechanic
Loot is not a collection until you decide it is. Early on, sell everything that is not a pet, a tool, or a clearly marked high rarity. The loot hub and loot tier list exist so you stop asking “is this stone special?” in chat.
Sell when:
- The backpack warning appears
- You are about to train or rebirth
- You have enough Cash for the next egg
- You are hopping servers
Do not sell by walking to the NPC every three blocks if there is a sell button. If there is only an NPC, batch trips. Time in the hole is Power; time in the plaza is only useful when you are buying eggs or redeeming.
Public vs private holes
Public servers are social and bad for efficiency. People stand in your pit, steal sparkles, and train on your head. The developers shipped free private mining servers for this reason. Use them for grind blocks. Use public servers when you are hunting the Alien Area rumors or showing a friend the hole.
If you must stay public, mine the edge of the map, not the spawn crater. Spawn is a blender.
Depth is a Power check
Deeper is not always richer if you cannot break the block. A slow deep swing can earn less Cash per minute than a fast mid layer. The progression tier list ranks “push depth” versus “push pets” versus “rebirth now”. When in doubt, time one minute of swings at two depths and sell both piles. Keep the faster pile’s depth.
Scripts and “auto dig”
If mining feels like a job, the legal answers are pets, private servers, and rebirths. The extra-legal answer is an auto mine script. Read that page before you paste anything. This how-to assumes you click. If a script breaks after a patch, this page will still be correct.
When to stop mining
Stop when:
- The next egg is affordable — go hatch
- The next Power upgrade is cheaper than another sell trip — go train
- The rebirth button is the only upgrade that still moves the account — go to the rebirth planner
- You are tired and making spaghetti holes
Mining is the engine, not the destination. The destination advertised by the game is a stronger rebirth and a hidden alien chamber. Get Cash, then leave the pit.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Dig Into Secrets miners.
Why can't I break blocks in Dig Into Secrets?
Power is too low for that layer. Return to how to train.
Should I sell loot or keep it?
Sell commons. Keep only high rarity or quest items. Rankings are on the loot tier list.
Are private servers better for mining?
Yes for grind. The game advertised free private mining servers.
Is deeper always better?
Only if you still one-shot. Time Cash per minute, then check the progression tier list.
What do I buy with mining Cash?
Eggs first. See how to hatch pets.
